The existing event building and civic hall – a core venue for encounters, culture, associations and discourse in the heart of Schwyz-is refurbished, transformed, and extended. Situated within the historic village center of Schwyz and at the edge of the Ital-Reding-Hofstatt landscape, the project responds to its sensitive, protected context and seeks the new within the old-the distinctive 1997 architecture by Frank Krayenbühl. As a ‚house for all‘ the entrance area is opened up, operations are optimized, the program is expanded, and the public character of the building is enhanced. A new restaurant activates the vast roof as a lush garden and a public podium towards the mountain panorama.
